Stronger Communities One Gift at a Time

Shaanvhi Jayaram is a high school senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. When her grandfather was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease during her freshman year of high school, Shaanvhi began exploring the world of neurodegenerative disease and opportunities to support older persons like him. She then began volunteering in hospice care, working closely with patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, cerebral atherosclerosis, psychotic disturbance, and other conditions. Witnessing the vulnerabilities of these patients and the lack of education and resources for families motivated Shaanvhi to found Mission Memory. Her goal is to provide education, advocacy, and support to aging populations.
